Who Are You is The Who’s eighth studio album, released in August 1978. It was a major success, reaching #2 on the US Billboard 200 (held off only by Grease) and #6 in the UK, earning 2× Platinum and Gold certifications respectively.

The album was the last to feature drummer Keith Moon, who passed away three weeks after its release. It showcased Pete Townshend’s intricate songwriting and layered use of synths and strings, some drawn from his abandoned Lifehouse project.

The title track, “Who Are You,” became a concert staple and one of the band’s signature anthems. Following the album’s success, The Who toured in 1979 with new drummer Kenney Jones and keyboardist John Bundrick.
