Aufheben—a German term meaning “to lift up,” “abolish,” or “sublate”—is used by Hegel to describe the interaction of thesis and antithesis. This new Brian Jonestown Massacre album, recorded in Anton Newcombe’s Berlin studio and the iconic East German Radio Station Studio East, features original member Matt Hollywood, Will Carruthers (Spacemen 3, Spiritualized), Constantine Karlis (Dimmer), and Thibault Pesenti (Rockcandys), plus Finnish vocals by Eliza Karmasalo. It blends the band’s classic sound with Eastern influences and fresh experimental twists developed over the past 40 years.
