This collection features ska, rocksteady, reggae, roots, dub, and disco mixes from Jamaica’s top female artists. Many tracks were previously rare and costly Jamaican 7” and 12” singles. Highlights include Marcia Griffiths and Rita Marley (with The Soulettes), both famed as part of Bob Marley’s backing group, the I-Threes, along with Hortense Ellis and Jennifer Lara, longtime Studio One singers. Beautifully packaged by Soul Jazz, the release includes extensive liner notes and rare photos from the Studio One archives, with all tracks digitally remastered.
