The Grateful Dead’s penultimate studio album, released in 1987, was their first Top 10 album and featured their first Top 10 hit, “Touch of Grey.” It includes classics like “Throwing Stones,” “West L.A. Fadeaway,” and “Black Muddy River.” Co-produced by Jerry Garcia and longtime engineer John Cutler, the album captures the band’s live energy with basic tracks recorded live at Marin County Civic Auditorium.
