Bear’s Choice, the Grateful Dead’s first archival album, was produced by their original soundman Owsley “Bear” Stanley as a tribute to Pigpen. Recorded live at the Fillmore East in 1971 during a pivotal transition to Americana, it features a mix of early acoustic Dead and electric blues, with Pigpen singing three tracks. This newly remastered edition by Grammy winner David Glasser uses Plangent Processes on the original analog tapes, sounding better than ever.
