Blues Obituary, The Groundhogs’ second album, marked their shift from pure blues to a heavier neo-psych sound. The classic trio—Tony T.S. McPhee, Pete Cruikshank, and Ken Pestelnik—crafted a riff-driven record inspired by Yardbirds freak-outs and Indian rhythms. Pushed by BBC producer John Walters to move beyond traditional blues, the band forged the foundation for their later power-trio triumphs. This reissue includes the mono single “BDD” and its B-side, McPhee’s solo track “Gasoline.”
