After a three-year stint as Frank Zappa’s lead guitarist, Steve Vai spent 1983 recording Flex-Able, his 1984 solo debut that launched his career. The standout instrumental, “The Attitude Song,” showcased his innovative guitar skills and gained early acclaim. Flex-Able paved the way for his work with Alcatrazz, David Lee Roth, and Whitesnake, leading to his platinum album Passion and Warfare. Remastered in 2020 by Bernie Grundman from original tapes, the reissue features a gatefold CD with a 32-page booklet of rare photos and detailed liner notes by Vai.
