Thirteen is the thirteenth studio album by the British progressive band Soft Machine, marking a new chapter in their 60-year history. The record features longtime guitarist John Etheridge, with most compositions written by saxophonist, flautist, and keyboardist Theo Travis, alongside contributions from bassist Fred Thelonious Baker and drummer Asaf Sirkis.
The album spans a wide musical range—from the energetic “Open Road” with fiery solos, to the delicate ballad “Disappear,” and the chaotic, fuzz-driven “Turmoil.” It also includes “Daevid’s Special Cuppa,” featuring a cameo from founder Daevid Allen. Overall, the album highlights the band’s continued experimentation and adventurous sound.
