Ozric Tentacles, formed at the 1983 Stonehenge Festival, are a free-spirited group blending psychedelic rock, dub, reggae, world music, and jazz—soundtracking the UK's alternative festival scene. Founded by Ed & Roly Wynne, Nick Van Gelder, Gavin Griffiths, and synth wizard Joie Hinton, the band built their reputation through self-released cassettes sold at festivals and via mail order. Their 1985 debut, Erpsongs, originally cassette-only, featured swirling 70s-inspired space rock jams like "Velmwend" and "Dots Thots," cementing their unique sound and earning lasting fan acclaim.
