After their acclaimed folk-rock trilogy, Jethro Tull returned in 1980 with A, featuring a new sound and lineup. Originally intended as Ian Anderson’s solo project, the label credited it to the band despite only Anderson and guitarist Martin Barre remaining from the previous lineup. Produced by Anderson and Robin Black, A was recorded in London with contributions from Dave Pegg, Mark Craney, and guest Eddie Jobson. The album and tour were well-received worldwide.
To celebrate its 40th anniversary, Rhino released A (A La Mode), a 3CD/3DVD set, alongside a newly mixed 1LP version by Steven Wilson.
