Sons of Kemet returned in 2021 with Black To The Future, their dynamic fourth album and follow-up to 2018’s Mercury Prize-nominated Your Queen Is A Reptile. Led by saxophonist Shabaka Hutchings, the UK jazz supergroup blends modal/free jazz, African rhythms, Caribbean dub, and Middle Eastern sounds. This Impulse! release features fuller compositions, vocal contributions from Kojey Radical, Moor Mother, Angel Bat Dawid, Joshua Idehen, and D Double E, highlighting a more expansive and politically charged sound.
