Sunlight to Blue... Blue to Blackness—one of the more upbeat title ideas for this stark, back-to-basics, and deeply reflective album from The Durutti Column. Much of the record features instrumental pieces played on Vini Reilly’s Juan Montero flamenco guitar. He also revisits Without Mercy with the haunting final track Grief, and reimagines Never Known from LC. For those new to his work, Vini was the very first artist signed to Manchester’s legendary Factory Records and co-wrote and played on Morrissey’s debut solo album, Viva Hate.
