Swans return with Birthing, an album shaped over their 2023–2024 tour, released via Mute and Young God Records. Deluxe editions include a bonus DVD with a 2024 live concert film and a 2022 solo tour documentary. Starting from acoustic sketches, the tracks evolved through live improvisation and studio work with longtime collaborators. Michael Gira calls Birthing and the recent Live Rope release his final deep dive into Swans’ expansive sound, with plans to continue the band in a pared-down form after a final 2025 tour.
