Elvis Costello and Allan Mayes, partners in their first band Rusty, reunite to create The Resurrection of Rust—“the record we would have cut when we were 18,” says Costello. Produced by Costello and Sebastian Krys, the album features Costello and Mayes with the Imposters, revisiting six songs from Rusty’s 1972 setlists. It includes two Nick Lowe covers, a Jim Ford track, two originals by Costello and Mayes, and a unique Neil Young medley showcasing Costello’s debut on electric violin.
