Written and recorded during lockdown, Fat Pop (Volume 1) is Paul Weller’s 16th solo album and one of his most adventurous and immediate. Following 2020’s On Sunset, Weller returned with a vibrant collection shaped remotely with his core band and later completed in person at his Black Barn studio.
Blending synth-heavy grooves, heartfelt ballads, and sharp pop hooks, Fat Pop offers standout moments like “Cosmic Fringes,” “Moving Canvas,” and “Shades of Blue.” Guests include Lia Metcalfe, Andy Fairweather Low, Weller’s daughter Leah, and Hannah Peel, adding depth to a record full of variety and vitality.
