Lora Logic, co-founder of UK punk band X-Ray Spex, was unexpectedly ousted before their 1977 debut album but went on to lead post-punk band Essential Logic. Known for her sharp sax and distinctive vocals, she released the influential debut Beat Rhythm News (Waddle Ya Play?) in 1979, reaching #11 on the UK Indie chart, followed by her solo album Pedigree Charm in 1982. Logic and Poly Styrene later reunited X-Ray Spex for their final album Conscious Consumer (1995). Essential Logic returned in 2022 with the 5-LP box set Logically Yours and a 2024 remix album Rekalibrated, featuring notable collaborators. The 45th Anniversary Deluxe edition of Beat Rhythm News includes the original album plus a bonus of all Essential Logic’s studio recordings from 1978–1983, rare singles, EPs, and b-sides, beautifully packaged on 2 vinyl discs with new liner notes by Lora.
