David Byrne’s American Utopia, released on Todomundo/Nonesuch, is his first solo album since 2004. Featuring collaborations with Brian Eno, Sampha, and others, the album blends hopeful, socially reflective songs with Byrne’s ongoing Reasons To Be Cheerful project, which highlights optimism amid today’s complexities. Produced with Rodaidh McDonald and recorded in NYC and London, American Utopia offers a fresh, collaborative sound rooted in Byrne’s distinctive style.
