Marc Almond personally curates this expanded reissue of his 2016 electro-pop album Silver City, previously released only in limited quantities in Germany. Written and produced with German electronic duo Starcluster, the album is Almond’s most synth-driven work since Soft Cell, built around vintage 80s analogue synthesiser sounds and retro-futuristic production.
Drawing on Moroder, Vangelis and classic synth-pop influences, the album features original tracks alongside inventive covers of Ronny’s ‘To Have And Have Not’, Valerie Dore’s ‘Get Closer’ and Laura Branigan’s ‘Self Control’. This definitive 20-track edition adds new remixes and two previously unreleased tracks, ‘Futuristic Weimar Berlin’ and ‘Dancing Through The Fire’.
The 2LP edition comes in a wide-spined sleeve featuring artwork by Kraftwerk collaborator Emil Schult, with two full-colour printed inner sleeves featuring new photographs of Marc Almond.
