McKinley Dixon’s Magic, Alive! is a vivid, dreamlike album born from a transatlantic collaboration with UK producer Sam Yamaha. Shaped in Richmond with help from past collaborators and a diverse group of guests, the record blends lush instrumentation with Dixon’s literary, emotionally charged storytelling. Following the critical acclaim of For My Mama and Anyone Who Look Like Her and Beloved! Paradise! Jazz!?, this album continues his exploration of joy, grief, and Black identity through a genre-blurring, narrative-rich lens.
