Following the dark intensity of 2018’s Image and the minimalism of 2021’s Several Others, Whispering Sons’ third album The Great Calm marks a fresh evolution while staying true to their unique sound. With bassist and producer Bert Vliegen offering fully formed ideas, guitarist Kobe Lijnen developed more complete songs. Recorded over four weeks—partly in a studio near Eindhoven and finished on a Dutch island—the album’s power, energy, and beauty shine through all 12 tracks.
