Squid’s new album Cowards explores themes of evil through nine stories about cults, charisma, and apathy. It’s their most daring work, blending expanded scope with a return to basics. Recorded at Church Studios with Mercury-winning producers Marta Salogni and Grace Banks, and mixed by John McEntire, the album reflects the band’s evolution since their 2016 start as an instrumental jazz group. Following their top 5 debut Bright Green Field (2021) and the global-reaching O Monolith (2023), Cowards marks another bold step forward.
