Since their 2016 debut, HMLTD have embraced the Gesamtkunstwerk ideal, culminating in their ambitious second album The Worm. Created over two years with 47 musicians—including a gospel choir and string orchestra—the album builds a sprawling musical universe set in a dystopian, medieval-inspired world. Blending free jazz, soul, folk, and rock opera, The Worm fuses political themes with psychological depth, drawing inspiration from Stravinsky, Pink Floyd, classic literature, and sci-fi films.
