Originally released as Little Girl Blue, this was Nina Simone’s first studio recording, made at age 25. The album's success launched a prolific career spanning over 80 sessions. Featuring bassist Jimmy Bond and drummer Albert “Tootie” Heath, it marked her only recording with this trio. Simone wouldn’t return to the studio until 1959 and recorded her final sessions in 1993.
