For the first time in over 50 years, Chet Baker’s five 1965 Prestige recordings—Boppin’, Smokin’, Groovin’, Comin’ On, and Cool Burnin’—are available on vinyl. Remastered from the original analog mono tapes by Kevin Gray, the sessions capture Baker’s return to the U.S., pairing his lyrical yet introspective trumpet with George Coleman and a tight NYC rhythm section. Housed in a deluxe box set with 180g vinyl, a detailed essay by James Gavin, interviews, and rare photographs, these recordings showcase Baker at his most human—fragile, expressive, and soulful.
