Trio by The Mike Taylor Trio, released in 1966, showcases Taylor’s unique blend of modern jazz with a melancholic, introspective tone. Featuring Dave Tomlin (bass) and Norman Fearon (drums), the album combines original compositions and standards with rich harmonics and emotive, modal piano work. Though not commercially successful initially, it’s now hailed as a British jazz gem. The 1967 album was remastered at Gearbox Records from original tapes using vintage analogue equipment and cut on the same lathe Rudy Van Gelder used, preserving its authentic sound.
