By 1991, Miles Davis had shaped five decades of music, blending jazz with classical, R&B, rock, and funk. After leaving Columbia in 1985, he signed with Warner Bros., befriending artists like Prince. That July, Davis was named a Knight of France’s Legion of Honour, dubbed “The Picasso of jazz.” Just weeks later, at the Vienne Jazz Festival, he delivered one of his final electrifying performances, featuring two Prince-written songs. He passed away in September 1991. This previously unreleased set includes liner notes by Ashley Kahn and art by Bruno Tilley.
