1973’s Multiple is a masterclass of hard-bop, fusion and free jazz spearheaded by the great American saxophonist Joe Henderson. Backed by an incredibly talented four-piece band including keyboardist Larry Willis, guitarist James ‘Blood’ Ulmer, bassist Dave Holland and drummer Jack DeJohnette, it’s arguably the finest point in Henderson’s often maligned seventies fusion period.
