The 2023 edition of Chutes Too Narrow celebrates the 20th anniversary of The Shins’ acclaimed second album with a fresh remaster by Adam Ayan, overseen by frontman James Mercer, and new vinyl packaging. Recorded in Mercer’s basement and mixed by Phil Ek, the 10-track album followed their 2001 debut Oh, Inverted World and showcased their signature offbeat pop. Upon its 2003 release, it earned widespread acclaim and landed on numerous best-of-the-decade lists.
