Connected by friendship and proximity, Kurt Vile and Steve Gunn have long influenced each other’s artistry. Though they've shared stages before, this is their first studio collaboration. Vile reinvents songs by John Prine and Randy Newman with his signature style and delivers a solo banjo version of his own "Red Apples." Gunn transforms Nico’s "60/40" into a psychedelic rocker and contributes the sprawling, hypnotic "Spring Garden," featuring Vile and Mary Lattimore, marking a standout new classic in his catalogue.
