Keaton Henson steps out of his long-held “quiet boy” persona on Parader, embracing the grunge-tinged sounds of his youth. Across 12 tracks, he channels darkness, frustration, and fragmented memories into a raw self-reckoning: “I was nervous about being too loud, but then it just came out.”
The album examines how time distorts and resurfaces, forming “disjointed snapshots” that shape his present. Henson describes Parader as his most confident work—not a performance, but an acceptance of his louder, rougher side.
Closing track “Performer” ties back to the album’s title, as Henson confronts the emotional cost of making art publicly: “I’ll show my scars to you no matter who you are.” In this, he embraces the role of the parader—someone who reveals his wounds for a living.
