Hen’s Teeth is Sam Beam’s eighth album and a companion to Light Verse, recorded during the same inspired sessions but darker, earthier, and more tactile in tone. Where Light Verse felt airy and hopeful, Hen’s Teeth embraces richer textures, deeper physicality, and genre-blending folk rock influenced by jazz and Tropicalia. Recorded quickly and spontaneously with a close-knit band, the album features collaborations with I’m With Her, Beam’s daughter Arden on backing vocals, and lush string arrangements, capturing what Beam describes as an “impossible gift”: a record rooted in freedom, intimacy, and renewed creative joy.
