Emma Thorpe works within the alt-folk and singer-songwriter tradition, but nudges it subtly off balance. Her songs carry a quiet strength—spare, haunting and emotionally precise—rooted in lived experience and an enduring connection to the natural world. Themes of resilience and renewal surface throughout, anchored by a voice that holds vulnerability and resolve in equal measure.
The album is produced by Jim Baron of Crazy P, marking his first full production role following his own Love Makes Magic. The collaboration places Thorpe at the heart of Nottingham’s close-knit musical community, with contributions from Huw Costin (Torn Sail), Kev Bales (Spiritualized), Matt Klose (Crazy P) and jazz bassist Simon Paterson. Their presence broadens the record’s scope while keeping its emotional core intact.
