For their seventh album, Night Light, White Lies reversed their usual process by rehearsing and refining songs live before recording, inspired by 1970s TV show The Midnight Special. Written largely in McVeigh’s London flat, the band focused on songwriting and chemistry, joined in the studio by keyboardist Seth Evans. Embracing a communal, live recording style, the album blends progressive rock, disco, and synth-driven soundscapes, balancing boldness and emotional depth across tracks like “Nothing On Me,” “Everything Is OK,” and closing with the pulsating “In The Middle.”
