Liverpool duo King Hannah—Hannah Merrick and Craig Whittle—release their debut LP I’m Not Sorry, I Was Just Being Me via City Slang, led by the single “All Being Fine,” which blends upbeat yet sinister, cinematic atmospheres reminiscent of David Lynch’s Blue Velvet. The album offers immersive soundscapes with darkly romantic, sardonic lyrics, created with additional musicians in just eight months. Drawing from 90s lo-fi influences and rooted in Merrick’s realist-inspired songwriting, King Hannah’s sound sits between Yo La Tengo’s meditative pop and Sharon Van Etten’s drama. Since forming in 2017, they’ve gained early acclaim and promise a long, fruitful musical journey.
