alt-J, the 2012 breakthrough band, follow up their single Matilda with debut album An Awesome Wave. Produced with long-time collaborator Charlie Andrew, the album spans psychedelic avant-pop to skeletal folktronica, blending understated beauty with epic oddities. Its thirteen tracks tackle themes from love and bullfighting to the life of 1930s war photographer Gerda Taro, while drawing cinematic inspiration, including Matilda (inspired by Leon) and Tessellate (The Good, the Bad and the Ugly).
