Anaximander’s 6th-century concept of apeiron—primal, limitless chaos from which all things arise and to which all return—mirrors 21st-century life. Our social, political, technological, and economic worlds constantly cycle between creation and destruction: crises emerge, are “solved,” then replaced by new ones; allies shift to enemies; technology solves problems but creates others. Humanity now exists in a perpetual state of flux and uncertainty—a modern apeiron marked by relentless anxiety and confusion.
