Screaming Trees formed in 1985 in Ellensburg, Washington, led by brothers Gary Lee Conner and Van Conner with vocalist Mark Lanegan. After early releases on Sub Pop and SST Records, they gained wider recognition with Sweet Oblivion and the single Nearly Lost You from the Singles soundtrack.
Their 1996 album Dust features guests Benmont Tench and Mike McCready, with mixing by Andy Wallace. Highlights include “Halo of Ashes,” “All I Know,” and “Sworn and Broken,” ending with the droning “Gospel Plow.”
