Daylight Savings is the follow-up to Surprise Chef’s debut, All News Is Good News, building on their global breakthrough. Recorded in spring 2019 in their Melbourne home studio, the album captures the optimism of warmer days with a richer, analogue-driven sound inspired by late-60s Capitol Records. Collaboratively written, it leans more into 70s jazz-funk with a stronger rhythm focus, blending cinematic drama and influences from El Michels Affair and local bands, while maintaining Surprise Chef’s unique, contemporary vibe.
