U.S. Girls’ eighth album, Bless This Mess, is a dynamic, experimental pop work by Meg Remy that explores the complexities of motherhood. Created alongside the conception and birth of her twin boys, the album blends funk, mythology, and joyful disorientation into a rich tapestry of anthems and emotions.
Remy’s voice evolved with her changing body, capturing performances recorded with her babies in utero or in her arms—even sampling her breast pump on the closing track, “Pump.” The ten songs were crafted with numerous collaborators and engineers, including Alex Frankel, Basia Bulat, and longtime partner Maximilian Turnbull, whose role was key in shaping the album’s warm, textured production.
