Recoiled captures the raw, experimental energy of Coil’s early ’90s collaborations with Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails. Mixed in the cave-like studios of Danny Hyde and Peter Christopherson, these tracks fuse Coil’s dark mysticism with Reznor’s industrial intensity, featuring pre-digital, hands-on production full of analog quirks and homemade effects.
The collection includes expanded versions of NIN remixes—most notably a richer take on “Closer,” later used in Se7en’s opening credits—and a previously unreleased track from the same sessions. Long rumored and finally unearthed by dedicated fans, Recoiled offers a beautifully remastered glimpse into a legendary creative collision.
