Cows On Hourglass Pond follows Avey Tare’s 2017 album Eucalyptus and 2018’s audiovisual project Tangerine Reef, a collaboration between Animal Collective and avant-garde coral macro-videographers Coral Morphologic. Recorded between January and March 2018 by Dave Portner at Laughing Gas in Asheville, NC on a Tascam 48 half-inch reel-to-reel, the album was mixed by Portner and Adam McDaniel at Drop of Sun, also in Asheville.
