Bathory – Blood on Ice is the ninth studio album from Swedish extreme metal pioneers Bathory, released in 1996 through Black Mark Production. A concept album rooted in the band’s epic and mythological style, it reflects Bathory’s enduring influence on the development of black metal, following the genre-defining early releases Bathory, The Return and Under the Sign of the Black Mark. Originally formed in Stockholm in 1983 by Quorthon, Bathory combined black metal with influences from heavy metal and punk to create a sound that would profoundly influence the Norwegian black metal scene.
