Born from experimental sessions at Richard Branson’s Manor Studios, Phaedra became a landmark in electronic music, as Tangerine Dream — Edgar Froese, Christopher Franke and Peter Baumann — used a Moog sequencer to create something mysterious, fluid and entirely new.
Fifty years later, 50 Years Of Phaedra: At The Barbican captures the band’s return to the work, with the current lineup reimagining it live. For the first time, Phaedra is performed fully quantised, revealing a clarity and precision that technology once denied, while honouring the spirit of the original.
