When the Ramones lost their edge, the Zero Boys found theirs. Hailing from Indianapolis, this hardcore punk band delivered one of the best early ‘80s punk records with History Of..., a post-breakup compilation proving their Midwest scene dominance. From 1979-83, their tight, melodic hardcore—fuelled by Terry Howe’s skilled guitar, a powerful rhythm section, and Paul Mahern’s intense vocals—stood out alongside legends like Minor Threat and Dead Kennedys. The 40th anniversary edition includes the original album plus a 7” of four previously unreleased live tracks from 1980’s iconic Crazy Al’s venue.
