Manuel Gagneux returns with Stranger Fruit, a bold evolution of Zeal & Ardor’s genre-blending sound. Expanding from a solo project into a full band after the success of Devil Is Fine, Gagneux teams with producer Zebo Adam and mixer Kurt Ballou to craft a heavier, more expansive album. Fusing blues, gospel, soul, and harsh metal, the 16-track record invites deeper interpretation, with interconnected lyrics and themes referencing the Goetia, Yoruba traditions, and occult history. While fuelled by righteous anger, Stranger Fruit ultimately aims to unify and inspire, balancing darkness with defiant hope.
