Joy Division, originally called Warsaw, formed in late 1970s Manchester with Ian Curtis (vocals), Bernard Albrecht (guitar), Peter Hook (bass), and Stephen Morris (drums). The name was inspired by Bowie and Eno’s “Warszawa.” This album features 11 tracks from a May 1978 session and 5 bonus demos from July 1977 with Steve Brotherdale on drums. Rehearsals added new songs “Interzone” (based on “Keep On Keepin’ On”) and “Transmission” to their repertoire.
