Underground by Thelonious Monk is his final quartet recording and seventh album for Columbia Records. Featuring mostly original compositions and Monk’s signature angular piano style, the album also became famous for its striking French Resistance-themed cover, which won the 1969 Grammy for Best Recording Package.
