Robin Carolan’s soundtrack for Robert Eggers’ Nosferatu is a haunting, gothic work blending a vast orchestration—60 strings, choir, horns, woodwinds, harp, and percussion—with meticulous craftsmanship. Building on their The Northman collaboration, Carolan uses ancient horns and subtle contemporary instruments to create an eerie, melancholic score inspired by Bartok, Coil, Hammer Horror, and Eastern European cinema. Eschewing typical horror tropes, the music captures the film’s tragic and romantic depths, making the score both a perfect companion to the film and a powerful standalone work.
