Gold Mine Trash is Felt’s first compilation album, released in 1987, showcasing tracks from their Cherry Red years (1981–1985). Curated by frontman Lawrence, who famously aimed to release ten albums and ten singles in ten years, the collection captures Felt’s early dream-pop brilliance. It highlights the creative interplay between Lawrence’s understated vocals and Maurice Deebank’s ornate guitar work, culminating in their biggest hit, “Primitive Painters.” The compilation also features rare versions of “Dismantled King Is Off The Throne” and “Sunlight Bathed The Golden Glow,” marking a key era before Felt evolved further with the addition of keyboardist Martin Duffy.
