David Brewis of Field Music releases his debut solo album, The Soft Struggles—a jazz-tinged, acoustic departure from his previous work. Influenced by Astral Weeks and One Year, the album was largely recorded live in one day with a small ensemble including his brother Peter, Sarah Hayes, and Faye MacCalman. Out on the new Daylight Saving Records label, it explores themes of weariness, loss, and quiet resilience, blending spontaneity with introspective chamber pop. Guests include singer Eve Cole, a brass section, and Field Music’s regular string collaborators.
